Supporting Those Who Serve First: The Twin Tier & Alexis Fire Equipment Advantage

In the fire service, the apparatus you choose is more than a vehicle—it is the central hub of your operation and the shield that protects your crew and community. At Twin Tier Fire and Safety Services, we understand the gravity of that choice. We are proud to serve as the authorized dealer for Alexis Fire Equipment in Eastern Pennsylvania and the Southern Tier Region of New York, bringing together two organizations that prioritize family values, American craftsmanship, and unwavering reliability.

A Legacy of American Manufacturing

The story of Alexis Fire Equipment is one of steady, purposeful growth. Founded in 1947 as a small fabrication shop in Alexis, Illinois, the company originally had only enough room to house four apparatus. Over the last seventy-five years, that modest beginning has evolved into one of the nation’s leading fire equipment manufacturing powerhouses.

Today, the Alexis facility spans 55,000 square feet and employs over 75 of the industry's most talented mechanics, craftsmen, and engineers. Despite this growth, Alexis remains one of the few independent, family-owned fire apparatus manufacturers left in the nation. Now in its third generation of family ownership, the company has resisted the industry trend of corporate consolidation to maintain its high standards. This aligns perfectly with our philosophy at Twin Tier Fire and Safety Services. As a family-owned business ourselves, with two generations currently serving our customers, we see the Alexis partnership as a natural extension of our own values. When you work with us, you aren't just a job number or a department name; you are joining a family that is big enough to do the job right, yet small enough to truly care.

Engineering That Endures: The Stainless Steel Difference

A fire truck must withstand road salt, humidity, extreme heat, and the heavy vibrations of emergency response. Alexis has made all-Stainless-Steel body construction the cornerstone of their brand for decades. But a body is only as strong as what lies beneath it.

Alexis Huck-Bolted Subframe

The Huck-Bolted Subframe

While other manufacturers often mix materials or rely on mild steel that is prone to rust, Alexis uses an unmatched, huck-bolted, outrigger-style stainless steel subframe. This design choice is critical for the longevity of the vehicle:

Zero Mild Steel:

There is no mild steel in the subframe, reducing the risk of rusted-out crossmembers.

Vibration Resistance:

The huck-bolted design offers superior flexibility and strength compared to rigid welds, meaning you won’t have to worry about cracked welds compromising the truck’s structural integrity.

Rock-Solid Foundation:

This heavy-duty engineering ensures that your truck provides years of reliable service, even in the harshest environments.

Precision Pre-Engineering

We believe that the best way to avoid problems is to predict them. Unlike competitors who may rush the design phase, Alexis utilizes a rigorous pre-engineering process. Before a single piece of metal is cut, every drawing goes through the engineering department. Your department will receive a truck-specific "Weights and Capacities" drawing that outlines weight distribution, compartment dimensions, hose load capacities, and center-of-gravity calculations. This transparency prevents large, costly changes later in the build and ensures the truck performs exactly as promised.

Customization Without Compromise

One of the greatest advantages of choosing an independent manufacturer is the freedom from "cookie-cutter" designs. We offer fully customizable builds tailored to your department's specific terrain, tactics, and staffing.

Whether you need a specialized RIV Pumper or MAP Pumper for rapid response, a heavy-duty Rescue, or a massive 4,000-gallon Custom Tanker, we can turn your concept into reality. We also offer the Equalizer series and rugged Utility Body Brush Trucks for wildland applications. Because we are not tied to a proprietary chassis, we can build your dream rig on the platform that your members prefer, including Kenworth, Freightliner, International, Spartan, HME, Ford, and Chevrolet.

A Turn-Key Solution: Equipment and Upfitting

At Twin Tier Fire and Safety Services, we believe your truck should arrive ready to work. You don't need to source your equipment from a dozen different vendors; we can serve as your single source for a "turn-key" apparatus.

We can equip your new Alexis truck with everything you need, including:

Hose & Nozzles:

From top brands like Snap-Tite Hose, Key Hose, Akron, Elkhart, HEN, and Harrington.

Tools & Hardware:

Including Leatherhead Tools, Fire Hooks Unlimited, Fol-Da-Tank, Husky and Action.

Professional Upfitting:

We offer compartmentation solutions and tool mounting using trusted mounts from FMI, Zico, and PAC.

By handling the equipment, ordering and upfitting through us, you ensure that every tool has a designated place before the truck even hits your station floor.

The Twin Tier Purchasing Experience

Purchasing a fire truck is a major investment, and we strive to make the process as transparent and thorough as possible. When you receive a price from Twin Tier Fire and Safety Services, it is comprehensive.

What’s Included:

Inspection Trips:

The price includes 1 to 2 trips to the Alexis factory in Illinois. These trips allow your committee to inspect the build in person, meet the craftsmen (it’s not uncommon to see owner Jeff Morris walking the factory floor), and ensure your specifications are being met.

Delivery & Training:

We handle the final delivery of the truck to your station and provide comprehensive training for your staff to ensure they are comfortable with the new systems.

Financing and Lead Times: We understand the complexities of department budgeting. We work with several banks to offer direct financing solutions and partner with companies like Leasing 2 to provide flexible leasing options.

Regarding timeline, custom craftsmanship requires patience. Depending on chassis availability and production schedules, lead times for a new Alexis truck typically range from 625 to 825 calendar days.

Ironclad Warranty Protection

Finally, we back our build quality with some of the strongest warranties in the fire industry. When you drive an Alexis truck, you are protected by:

Lifetime Body Warranty:

Covering the stainless steel body.

10-Year Warranties:

Covering both Paint and Plumbing.

7-Year Warranty:

Covering Alexis Electrical systems.

3-Year Warranty:

Covering Lamination.

2-Year Warranty:

Bumper-to-Bumper coverage.
